Our Key

In September, our fence gets a little more colourful, and a little more full of possibility.

Keys located on eight side of school entrance fence

At the start of every school year at CreateSchools, our youngest students gather in the school yard with their parents and some of their teachers for a ceremony. The children are guided to one particular section of our fence, a section full of color and special meaning for us. It is covered in keys.

Students fix small, colorful keys to the fence themselves. It can be a tricky job, so parents stand close by to help when needed.

What does a key represent to us?

It is a promise that here, at CreateSchools, we will unlock each child's potential. We help children find their element, the thing that makes their heart sing. The key also reminds us, as teachers, to see the whole child and to notice what makes each one unique, so that this uniqueness is nurtured rather than squashed by a system that often rewards conformity and obedience.

Above all, the key reminds us to pay attention to who each child already is.
