Cambridge A Levels are a respected international qualification for students aged 16 to 19, widely recognised by universities around the world and also well recognised in Germany. They are known for their focus on depth rather than breadth, giving students the opportunity to specialise in a small number of subjects and explore them in greater detail during their studies at Create College.

History of Cambridge

Cambridge A Levels were introduced in 1951 in the UK as a university-preparation qualification, replacing the Higher School Certificate. Building on a long history of Cambridge exams dating back to the 1800s, they evolved into a globally recognised system now taken in over 130 countries.

Requirements to Attend CreateCollege

At Create College, all classes are taught in English, except for language subjects where the target language is used. This ensures students are fully prepared for international study while still developing strong language skills.

To support each student’s learning journey, we use assessments to understand their current academic level and place them appropriately. This helps us make sure they are challenged in the right way from the start.

A levels Comparison to Abitur

The Abitur is a broad, general qualification where students study many subjects across a wide academic range until graduation. It emphasizes overall education and balance across disciplines.

Cambridge A-Levels, in contrast, are a specialised pathway where students focus on 3–4 subjects in depth. This allows for stronger academic development in chosen areas and a more university-style approach to learning.

Both qualifications can lead to university admission, but A-Levels are more focused on subject specialisation, while the Abitur prioritizes breadth of knowledge.
